Red Umbrella Design
Red Umbrella Designs' motto is to "Seek beauty. Keep hope. Give kindness."
Hand-drawn illustrations are transformed into functional products (as well as logos and branding identities) that remind people of their connection to the natural world, which in turn helps people feel more connected to themselves and one another.
Baylie's illustrations are all created by hand, starting with old-fashioned pencil and pen in a sketchbook. Color and texture are added using a combination of watercolor, digital collage, and digital illustration. The natural world is always a source of inspiration for Baylie's work, and the result is at times playful, modern, intricate, and joyful, yet hopefully always full of awe and wonder.
With a degree in architecture and a background as a certified Montessori teacher, Baylie creates work that brings together design problem solving and a linear aesthetic with a commitment to playful curiosity and a childlike joy for the world's wonders. Having moved to the Methow originally as a teenager, Baylie (again) lives in Twisp where she strives to find balance between the joys of business, family, and play.
Select Red Umbrella products are stocked locally at Methow Valley Goods on the TwispWorks campus and other valley retailers.
